The Cottonwood Ranch Experience

It’s all about the Cottonwood Ranch Immersive Photography Experience in Nevada this time.

I just returned home from our Cottonwood Ranch Immersive Photography Experience with my colleagues, Kim and Cara with Cowgirls with Cameras where we had another fabulous group of eager photographers joining us again this year.

The week was jam packed with shooting AND education. We have a morning and evening shoot every day, classroom time where we cover everything from the technical side of making great images to the creative, mindset and business too!

I dig deep into the subjects of  composition, the art of cropping, the importance of the histogram, creativity and Photoshop. Kim gets serious about the exposure triangle, Lightroom and Mindset and Cara brings her expertise to the group with her posing skills and dealing with clients. All this is and so much more we cover during our time together!

We have something for everyone from the enthusiastic hobbyist to the advanced professional!

The fellowship and connections made during our time together is priceless,

we all go away with a renewed sense of enthusiasm for the art of photography.

So much thanks to the family and staff at Cottonwood for making this event a huge success as always.

This was our third year at the ranch and McKenzie has developed quite an eye for

what we’re looking for in locations and can scout like a pro.

As always Kyle wears many hats from driver, to cowboy, to helping attendees get back on the road with safe tires! You will never go hungry during your time at the ranch with Joe in the kitchen, his amazing skills and wit keep us well fed and entertained. There’s Mckenzie’s Mom and Dad, Vicki and A.G., oh the stories he can tell!

We had lots of action, some new faces and of course, ranch dogs too!

We also had the great pleasure of heading off site to shoot (and be entertained) with a great bunch of ranch kids. It’s wonderful to see these young cowgirls and cowboys play and work together as a team, it’s a lifestyle I wish all kids could be a part of!

One of favorites is getting to shoot the ranching lifestyle and the day to day work that goes on

to make the ranch successful, so that would definitely include cattle work.

Well, that’s it for this week, just wanted to give you a sense of the amazing experience enjoyed by all

at the Cottonwood with Cowgirls with Cameras! Hope you’ll join us soon!

In case you haven’t noticed I have a huge appreciation for the working ranch horse!

We’ve got so many great events coming up, we’ll be leaving soon for our Trappers Lake Lodge Photography Adventure in the beautiful Flat Top Wilderness of Colorado with stunning Fall Color!

Don’t forget our Horses on the Beach in St Augustine, Florida – January 17-19, 2025, we still have a few spots left for this one!

On the first of February we’ll be enjoying a Winter Getaway with horses in the snow at the five-star resort, C Lazy U Ranch in Granby, Colorado. You can even bring a non-shooting friend, spouse, or family member at a discounted price to enjoy all the winter activities offered at the ranch!

Of course, July will bring another favorite of ours, the Dryhead Ranch Retreat in Colorado!
