Cowgirls with Cameras Sonoran Desert Workshop

We just wrapped up our first Cowgirls with Cameras Sonoran Desert Workshop and Retreat at Kay El Bar Guest Ranch in Wickenburg.

What a wonderful group of photographers we had! It was an incredible few days of learning, creativity, and connection in the heart of the desert.

Arizona Kay El Bar Ranch/Cowgirls with Cameras

Kay El Bar Guest Ranch is one of Arizona’s original dude ranches, welcoming its first guests in 1926.

Homesteaded in 1909 by 18-year-old Romaine Lowdermilk, the ranch is now listed on both the National and Arizona Registers of Historic Places

and has been offering an authentic Western guest ranch experience for more than a century.

A photographers dream, creativity filled the ranch!

From the historic Homestead House, built in 1914, to the large adobe lodge, completed in 1926.

The Kay El Bar has long been known for its warm hospitality and sweeping desert views.

During our visit, we were surrounded by towering saguaro forests and explored stunning slot canyons,

an unforgettable glimpse of the Arizona landscape.

Everyone at Kay El Bar Guest Ranch went out of their way to make our stay memorable,

from the talented chefs in the kitchen to the hardworking wranglers in the barn.

Thanks to their hospitality this experience was truly special, so it’s safe to say a great time was had by all.

Jane of the Arizona Horse Company provides the ranch’s horses, and thanks to her beautiful stock,

we were treated to incredible photographic opportunities throughout our time at the ranch.

Guests had time to choose activities daily. Like horseback riding, sport shooting, archery, hiking,

or exploring nearby Wickenburg, widely recognized as the Team Roping Capital of the World!

Kay El Bar Ranch welcomed us with incredible hospitality, and our models and participants made the entire experience unforgettable.

Definitely one of those experiences that will stay with us long after we’ve left!

You might be wondering, “Where can I join this incredible group of women?”
