Celebrating the Journey of 2024 with some personal thoughts and a look back at my year in photography.
I love this quote from a fellow photographer. It applies to everyone, no matter where you are in your photography journey…hobbyist to pro. I think that’s what I love about this passion of creating imagery. We never stop learning, there is always something more to learn, to create, to document.
“I’ve learned photography is like playing a musical instrument or a sport. You must continue to practice. keep the creative muscles strong and to be ready to act quickly. A great moment doesn’t wait until you are ready. You must be able to think and act quickly while still being creative and focused on not only documenting the moment but creating something great.” ~ D.H.
Looking back on 2024, the most asked question I had was: “Will AI-generated images replace photographers?”
I think very possibly for certain kinds of photography, such as stock photography, it could.
However, I believe photography has a much greater purpose. One that AI-generated images will never be able to duplicate.
We are story tellers and AI cannot and will not ever be able to take that away from us.
It cannot record our most important moments.
Share the beauty of life.
Or be awestruck by the beauty of a sunrise, backlit dust and the sound of a thundering herd of horses.

AI can not feel what we feel, see what we see or do what we do.
