Highlights from Our Iceland Equine Photo Tour

Skógafoss…even more iconic with an Iclandic Horse crossing the river!
I couldn’t wait to share the highlights from our Iceland Equine Photo Tour and a bit of the magic we got to experience together in this unforgettable place. What an amazing adventure!
Our home base was the exceptional Skálakot Manor Hotel, nestled at the foot of Iceland’s southern highlands—a dream location where luxury meets rugged nature. From the moment we arrived, we were wrapped in Icelandic hospitality, with every detail perfectly attended to by the incredible Skálakot staff.
Our guide, Christina, brought her wonderful energy and love for the land and horses to every moment of the tour. Whether she was leading us to a hidden canyon, getting us the perfect equine pose in the lupine, or helping us position for the perfect shot—her presence was truly the heart of our adventure.
And let’s talk about the food! Every meal crafted by Chef Andre was a culinary delight. From freshly baked bread to locally sourced lamb and seafood, he kept our spirits (and bellies!) full and happy after long days in the field.

Of course, the true stars of the show were the Icelandic horses—bold, beautiful, and full of character. Against a backdrop of iconic Icelandic scenery—lava fields, waterfalls, black sand beaches, and dramatic mountain ridges—we created stunning imagery that captured the soul of this hardy breed and the epic landscape they call home.

Lately, I’ve been leaning more into video—mostly as a way to push myself outside my comfort zone. Sure, it means I might miss that iconic still shot now and then, but it’s a creative trade-off I’m willing to make. Photography will always be my first love, but after so many trips to Iceland, I’m always chasing a fresh perspective.

So many cute babies, so little time!

Huge thank you to the wonderful group of photographers that joined me this year! Each day offered something new, whether it was gorgeous light breaking through stormy skies, a horse highlighted against a dramatic waterfall, or the quiet connection shared between horse and rider. So grateful for the friendships, laughter, and awe we shared.
And yes, the images we created? Absolutely stunning, Iceland delivered…and then some!
