The ART of the CROP
(this has nothing to do with growing corn, soybeans or other crops)
I do prefer to get my images as close to the way I’d like it in camera.
However, sometimes that isn’t possible or it’s as simple as we
don’t see the “real” story until we get the image file on the computer.

Mindful cropping is a creative decision that can significantly impact
the visual storytelling and aesthetic appeal of an image.
It’s a thoughtful process that takes into consideration the overall message,
or emotion you want to convey in your image.
Things to consider when choosing how to crop.
Composition Raw file, straight out of the camera(SOOC)
After I cropped the image the viewers attention is directed to the main subjects.
Cropping is one of the tools that artists use to refine and enhance the composition of an image.
By choosing what to include and exclude within the frame, you will create a stronger focal point, establish visual balance,
and guide the viewer’s eye to specific elements in the image.

After the Crop
Before the Crop – Raw File, Straight out of the Camera (SOOC)
Every photograph tells a story or conveys an emotion.
By cropping in a certain way, you can isolate specific details, expressions, or interactions that help convey that message more effectively.

Focus on the Details
With mindful cropping you can bring attention to intricate details that might have been overlooked in the original image.
This will add depth and interest by focusing on things such as textures or patterns.

Eliminate Distractions
Cropping will allow you to eliminate any distractions such as unwanted clutter or other elements
that will detract from the subject or the mood you’re trying to convey.
Tell the “story within the story”. The four horses running side by side was the real story here!

Creative cropping can transform an ordinary scene into an abstract composition,
highlighting shapes, lines, and colors that might not have been as noticeable in the original image.
This can lead to unique and visually captivating photographs.

Develop your own style. I do love a Panoramic or Square Crop!
As photographers we can develop a distinct style by the way we like to crop our images.
Cropping choices photographers make can become a recognizable part of their artistic identity.
Just one MORE reason I like to call it THE ART OF THE CROP!
