Iceland Equine Photo Tour

Every time I return to Iceland for our Iceland Equine Photo Tour, I find myself asking the same question: Can this extraordinary country possibly surprise me again? And every single year, the answer is a resounding yes.

This year’s Iceland Equine Photo Tour reminded me that some places never stop inspiring you. The weather changes by the minute, the light is constantly evolving, and the Icelandic horses seem to embody the very spirit of the landscape they call home. No matter how many times I visit, I leave with a camera full of images and a heart full of gratitude.

For another unforgettable week, Skálakot Manor Hotel welcomed us with warm hospitality. Nestled beneath the southern highlands, it became our home away from home, a place where we visit together after long days, share stories over incredible meals, and recharge for the next adventure. The staff’s kindness and attention to every detail made the experience feel effortless from beginning to end.

Our horse wrangler, Thor, seemed to know exactly where the horses, the light, and the landscape would come together in perfect harmony. From beautiful valleys to black sand beaches and cascading waterfalls, every location offered a new opportunity to tell the story of Iceland through our lenses.

And then there was the food. After spending hours photographing, sitting down to Chef Andre’s incredible meals became something we all looked forward to. Fresh local ingredients, beautifully prepared dishes, and homemade breads turned every meal into another memorable part of the journey.

Of course, the true heart of the tour was the Icelandic horse. There is something incredibly captivating about this breed. Their flowing manes, curious personalities, and remarkable resilience seem perfectly matched to Iceland’s dramatic landscapes. Each shoot, every scene felt like it belonged in a storybook.

One thing that has changed for me this year was my own creative approach, and after returning to Iceland so many times, I’m continually looking for fresh ways to tell its story.

To everyone who joined me this year, thank you for trusting me with your adventure. Your enthusiasm, creativity, and willingness to embrace whatever Iceland had in store made this another tour I’ll never forget. Watching photographers share the excitement of capturing something they’ve never experienced before is incredibly rewarding. We laughed through rain showers, celebrated beautiful light, and stood in quiet amazement as Iceland revealed its beauty one breathtaking location after another.

The photographs are beautiful, but it’s the memories and friendships that will stay with me the longest. Until next time, Iceland.
