Lessons I Learn From My Dog

Are you a dog lover? I am.

Owning a dog is a huge responsibility. There are pros and cons to having a dog in your life. Of course, I believe the pros far outweigh the cons.  Dogs Can Teach Us about Peace, Joy, and Living in the Now.

I’ve had a dog all of my life. From purebreds to mutts, I’ve loved them all.  My dog brings me comfort, joy and companionship. I do hope one day that I will be the person my dog thinks I am. She gives me love unconditionally and I thank her for that.

So these are the lessons I want to learn from my dog and remember that each day brings joy….you just have to reach out and take it.

Connect  –  Relationships nurture our soul. Dogs need our love, time and attention on a daily basis. Dogs Live for Today  –  Stop regretting the past or worrying about the future. Thinking about things I can’t change is not productive. Forgiveness  –  Dogs don’t hold a grudge or worry about what happened yesterday. Dogs are led by their instincts. Trust Your Intuition, listen to what your body and mind is telling you. Dogs need a daily routine of exercise, meals and rest…along with a dose of love. When we Balance our lives the stress fades and we enjoy life more. Set boundaries….dogs thrive on structure , when the rules are clear and enforced consistently they do well. Find your purpose….when dogs are given a job they thrive. As humans, we need to find our purpose as well. When we take the time to discover our purpose in life, we feel more fulfilled, and our life feels more meaningful. Make every day special. Have you ever noticed how a dog finds everyday life exciting? They can’t wait to eat, go for a walk, see you come home, or greet a visitor. Count your blessings each and every day. Be grateful for what you have and focus on the positive.

Thank you little Miss Reba.
