Each year Kimberly Beer and I co-host the Photography Clinic during the event at Art of the Cowgirl

in beautiful Queen Creek, Arizona at the Horseshoe Park & Equestrian Centre.

Please join us as we celebrate, gather, and connect western women around horses and western art.

You will spend 5 days with 2 professional equine photographers! Learn professional techniques for photographing events and the process of working with and photographing horses, models, and candid images alongside Kim and Phyllis. In addition to photography techniques, you will also learn about the business of being a professional equine photographer!

This retreat is limited to 12 participants. It will include an all access press pass to Art of the Cowgirl where you will be one of the event photographers while learning from Kim and Phyllis. Photographs taken during the retreat will be utilized by Art of the Cowgirl for marketing which will be an advantage for getting your name out there for your photography business.

Each participant is responsible for travel, lodging and meals.

Testimonial from past participants:

I was a first time student with this group and I cannot say enough good things about this experience. I was blown away by the education offered, shared passion and the venue for amazing photography opportunities. Please save my spot for next year! -Anne Albert

When I first learned about the photography workshop at Art of the Cowgirl, it felt a bit like an out-of-reach dream. I had started to turn my photography hobby into a business three years prior, and the workshop would be a pretty big investment. I kept checking into the website to see how many spots were left…first ten, then eight, down to six, and eventually down to two spots. After reviewing Kim and Phyllis’s work for the umpteenth time, I decided I needed to commit. I won’t ever regret that decision. My experience at Kim and Phyllis’s workshop was more than I could have expected or imagined. Both ladies teach from their hearts and freely share their passion for their art. Instead of seeing my photography as work, as I had started to look at it, I was able to reignite my passion for creating art. The flexible structure of the workshop made the experience both personal and customizable for me. When shooting events, Kim and Phyllis welcomed and encouraged questions about all aspects of photography, from setting up shots to post-processing to business. The workshop also helped me to build relationships with like-minded photographers, several of whom I’ve kept in touch with. I left Bozeman with a notebook full of ideas, a bolstered portfolio of beautiful images, renewed confidence in my photography, and a heart full of excitement to continue to learn and grow. I highly recommend this photography workshop to anyone who is looking to learn and grow as a photographer. -Marci Johnson, Marci Jo Photography

I am so excited to have connected with these ladies. After years of admiring their work from afar I made the decision to register for AOTC. What a great decision it was. I immediately felt comfortable and knew I was in the right place. All my insecurities about being with such well known and talented photographers in the equestrian world washed away because of how down to earth, friendly and welcoming everyone was.  The entire week I shot with Phyllis and Kim and also had the freedom to wonder and shoot anything that caught my eye. These ladies were open books and happy to share their knowledge and experience the entire time. One of the really awesome things about them is that they all bring different expertise and experiences to the table so I could get all the help I need with my business. I found such a value in what they offer I have already signed up for a future week long workshop with them. So excited for more. -Patti
